Hair Replacement Pricing in Chicago
Every head of hair is different, and so is every hair system, topper or medical wig we create. This page gives you a clear overview of what non-surgical and non-invasive hair loss solutions typically cost in Chicago — including men’s hair systems and toupees, women’s hair toppers and medical wigs.
Kaelyss is a private hair replacement studio in River North, Chicago, serving clients from downtown, the Gold Coast, Lincoln Park, Lakeview, West Loop and the North Shore. We work exclusively with real human hair and focus on modern, natural-looking results.
How Pricing Works for Non-Surgical Hair Replacement
Pricing for non-surgical hair replacement in Chicago depends on more than just “short vs long.” We design each solution around your hair loss pattern, lifestyle and comfort level, not a generic package.
Your final investment is influenced by:
- Coverage area: small crown or part vs. full top or full head
- Hair length: shorter looks vs. mid-length vs. long 18–26 inch designs
- Hair quality: we work only with real human hair, never synthetic
- Base type: skin, lace or hybrid bases chosen for realism and comfort
- Wear method: clip-in (removable) vs. bonded (full-time wear)
- Customization: density, hairline design, texture and color blending
Because of these variables, we do not quote exact final pricing by phone or DM. Instead, we give clear starting price ranges and then confirm your personalized quote during your consultation.
Core Hair Replacement Services & Starting Prices
Below are the three main non-surgical hair loss solutions we provide in Chicago: men’s hair systems and toupees, women’s hair toppers and medical wigs. All starting prices are based on human-hair pieces, custom-fitted and installed at our River North studio.
Custom men’s hair systems — also called hair units, men’s toupees or hair patches — for guys with receding hairlines, thinning crowns or advanced hair loss who want a natural, gym-friendly non-surgical hair loss solution instead of shaving or surgery.
- Custom sizing and realistic hairline design
- Human-hair system cut and styled to your face and lifestyle
- Bonded, full-time wear for everyday life in Chicago (work, gym, nightlife)
Discreet women’s hair toppers for thinning at the part, crown or frontal area. Ideal for early alopecia, postpartum shedding, hormonal thinning or stress-related hair loss when you still have hair but want more coverage and volume on top.
- Custom base size and parting (center, side or zig-zag)
- Human-hair topper cut and blended into your natural hair
- Clip-in toppers (removable) or bonded toppers for a more permanent feel
Human-hair medical wigs / cranial prostheses for chemo, alopecia and other medical hair loss. Designed as a non-invasive hair loss solution for sensitive scalps, everyday comfort and natural coverage from hairline to nape.
- Medical-grade caps for comfort and breathability
- Human hair tailored to your length, texture and color goals
- Private in-studio or in-hospital consultation options in Chicago

Pricing, Insurance & Frequently Asked Questions
Many clients arrive with similar questions about cost, insurance and what happens if their situation changes. Here are some of the most common topics we cover. For a broader FAQ about systems in general, you can also visit our Hair Systems FAQ.
Why do you only work with human hair?
Human hair offers the most natural movement, styling flexibility and longevity, especially for clients in Chicago who need their hair to stand up to wind, humidity and daily life. Synthetic hair can be useful in some situations, but for our core services — men’s hair systems and toupees, women’s toppers and medical wigs — we focus on premium human hair only.
Why can’t I get an exact price quote by phone or DM?
Without seeing your hair, scalp, density, length goals and coverage needs, any number would be guesswork. During your consultation we assess all of this in person, show you options, and then give you a precise quote before you decide whether to move forward.
Are medical wigs covered by insurance?
Some insurance plans reimburse part of the cost of a medical wig or cranial prosthesis, but this varies widely by provider and policy. We can provide documentation and receipts that describe your wig as a cranial prosthesis, which some clients use when submitting claims. However, coverage is not guaranteed and you should always confirm details directly with your insurance company.
What happens if my hair loss progresses over time?
Hair loss is often progressive. We design your solution with this in mind, so we can adjust coverage, density or base size in future units if your pattern changes. You are never locked into one look; we revisit your plan at maintenance appointments and during future replacements.
Do you offer any discounts or financing?
We do not run aggressive discount campaigns because we focus on quality, longevity and private service. However, clients often use their own credit options or payment methods to spread the investment. During your consultation, we can discuss what timing and structure make the most sense for you.
How often should I budget for maintenance?
Most men’s hair systems and bonded women’s toppers require professional maintenance every 3–5 weeks. Medical wigs and clip-in toppers can often be maintained at home with periodic studio cleanings or reshaping. We will outline a realistic maintenance schedule for you during your consultation so you know what to expect long term.
