What Is an In-Hospital Medical Wig Consultation?
This service is a $225 in-hospital visit where a Kaelyss specialist meets you or your loved one at the hospital to discuss medical wigs / cranial prostheses, answer questions, and guide you through realistic options for coverage, comfort, and appearance. It is designed for patients who cannot easily travel to our private River North studio in Chicago.

We meet you in your hospital room or a designated private space, always in coordination with hospital staff and your care team.

We explain medical-grade wig options, cap construction, realistic coverage, and care—so you understand what will feel and look most natural.
3. Personalized plan
Together we define your preferred style, color family, and budget. You leave with a clear next-step plan for ordering a medical wig or cranial prosthesis.

Consultation Fee & Booking Details
Simple, transparent pricing
- Fee: $225 per in-hospital consultation
- Duration: typically 45–60 minutes, depending on medical status
- One appointment = one patient (additional patients require their own booking)
- Fee covers professional time and expertise only; wig or topper costs are separate
Cancellation & no-show policy
- Appointments may be cancelled or rescheduled up to 24 hours in advance without additional fees.
- Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice or missed appointments may be subject to a no-show charge according to our Square policy.
- Because in-hospital visits require travel and coordination, the $225 consultation fee is non-refundable once booked.

Insurance & Cranial Prosthesis Documentation
Many insurance plans may consider a medical wig as a cranial prosthesis when prescribed by a physician. Coverage is highly specific to each plan and carrier.

- Upon request, we can provide an itemized receipt and appropriate description for potential reimbursement.

No. The fee covers travel, time, and professional expertise for your hospital visit. Any medical wig, topper, or cranial prosthesis is priced separately.
Can a caregiver book this on behalf of a patient? +
Yes. Many of our in-hospital consultations are booked by spouses, partners, parents, or close friends. Please include the patient’s full name, hospital, and room information when booking.
Do you come directly to the hospital room? +
In most cases, yes. We coordinate with the patient and, when needed, hospital staff to meet at the bedside or in a nearby private space that respects medical privacy.
Is this service covered by insurance? +
Some insurance plans may reimburse part of the cost of a medical wig when it is billed as a cranial prosthesis. Because coverage is plan-specific, you will need to confirm directly with your insurance provider. We can provide detailed receipts for you to submit, but we do not guarantee reimbursement.
Do you also offer consultations in your Chicago studio? +
Yes. We provide in-studio consultations in our private River North location for patients who are able to travel. This in-hospital service is specifically for those currently admitted to a Chicago-area hospital.
